“My ultimate goal: Help athletes fuel to enhance their performance, not hinder it.”

— Dawn Holmes

About Dawn

Dawn Holmes is a Registered Dietitian (RD) and Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) who enjoys helping athletes achieve their best performance through successful fueling strategies. As a former collegiate track and cross country athlete, she knows the consequences of inadequate fuel, challenges of finding the right balance, and rewards of a well implemented plan. These experiences prompted her study of Food and Nutrition at Bluffton University, followed by a Master of Science degree in Applied Physiology and Nutrition at Teachers College, Columbia University in 2005.

Her professional experience includes completion of her dietetic internship and an additional 1500 specialty practice hours to become a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD).

She has worked with clients of all ages and backgrounds from infants and toddlers, to pregnant women and Hispanic adults, and everyone in between. Through these positions, she continued to pursue work with athletes – team talks, individual fueling consultations, and sports nutrition presentations including work with local triathlon clubs and MIT (Marathoners In Training). In 2016, she launched her own sport nutrition practice, Real Life Fuel, LLC.

Dawn is also the Sports Dietitian for:

  • OhioHealth’s Sports Medicine Program

  • OhioHealth’s Runner’s Clinic

She continues to remain active by running, gardening, hiking, and whatever else her family is doing that day.
